The Goldenhearts feature the songs of Roger Rocha. Rocha sings heartfelt psychedilic blues chamber-pop/rock from a deeply personal place filtered through the world of pop chemistry. It could almost be called “Modern Blues”. The bass and cello of Ari Gorman, drums of Chad Tasky and the scintillating violin of frequent guests Emily Palen and Jacob Hanson make for a fiery ball of musical light. At once beautifully melodic and dissonant, the Goldenhearts won’t let you down.
Roger is grandson of abstract expressionist giant Clyfford Still, he was exposed to the world of art and music at a young age. Raised in San Francisco, living at Haight & Ashbury while enrolled in high school. Outside his bedroom window, the nights were filled with the desperate sounds of punk-rock runaways, street musicians and homeless drunks. Staying up all night playing guitar and listening to records, it was a time of inspiration and dreams. Roger is perhaps best known as the guitarist for the group 4 Non Blondes, who had a major worldwide hit with “What’s Up?”. He has shared the stage with Prince, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Neil Young and has been a featured guest of the Violent Femmes.
